ADAS Calibration
Kitsap County, WA

After windshield replacement, modern vehicles require camera recalibration to keep your safety systems working correctly. We perform both static and dynamic ADAS calibration at all three locations — same visit as your windshield replacement.

Why Recalibration Is Required

Modern vehicles use a forward-facing camera mounted to or near the windshield to power safety features like lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. When the windshield is replaced, the new glass — even a fraction of a millimeter different in thickness or curvature — shifts the camera's focal point.

Without recalibration, your safety systems will operate on incorrect data. Lane departure warnings may trigger at the wrong time. Emergency braking may activate unexpectedly or fail when you need it most. Vehicle manufacturers require recalibration after every windshield replacement on equipped vehicles — it is not optional.

We check your vehicle's specifications before every windshield replacement and perform the correct calibration procedure — static, dynamic, or both — as part of the same visit.

Static vs. Dynamic Calibration

Static Calibration

Performed in our shop with the vehicle stationary. Calibration targets are placed at precisely measured distances in front of the vehicle. The camera is aligned to these targets using manufacturer-specified software.

  • Performed in controlled shop environment
  • Uses manufacturer-specific calibration targets
  • Takes 45–90 minutes
  • Required for most Toyota, Honda, Subaru, BMW, Mercedes vehicles

Dynamic Calibration

Performed while driving the vehicle on roads with clear lane markings. The system self-calibrates as it processes real-world visual data. Our technician drives the vehicle at specified speeds until calibration is confirmed.

  • Requires driving at 25–50 mph on marked roads
  • System self-calibrates in real-world conditions
  • Takes 20–30 minutes of driving
  • Required for most Ford, GM, Chrysler, Jeep vehicles

Some vehicles require both. Our technicians determine the correct procedure for your specific make, model, and year before beginning any work. We use OEM-approved calibration software and targets.

Does Your Vehicle Need ADAS Calibration?

If your vehicle has any of the following systems, windshield replacement requires recalibration. Most vehicles manufactured from 2018 onward are equipped with at least one.

Automatic Emergency Braking
Lane Departure Warning
Lane Keeping Assist
Adaptive Cruise Control
Forward Collision Warning
Traffic Sign Recognition
Pedestrian Detection
Blind Spot Monitoring

ADAS Calibration — Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need ADAS calibration after windshield replacement?
Yes, if your vehicle has a forward-facing camera mounted to or near the windshield — which includes most 2018 and newer vehicles — the camera must be recalibrated after windshield replacement. The new glass changes the camera's focal point, which can cause lane departure warnings, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control to malfunction or give false readings.
How long does ADAS calibration take?
Static calibration typically takes 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. Dynamic calibration requires a 20–30 minute drive at highway speeds. If both are required, plan for approximately 2 hours total. We perform calibration immediately after windshield installation so you can complete everything in a single visit.
Does insurance cover ADAS calibration?
In most cases, yes. When ADAS calibration is required as part of a windshield replacement covered by comprehensive insurance, the calibration is typically included in the claim. We work directly with all major insurance providers and handle the paperwork for you.
What happens if ADAS is not recalibrated after windshield replacement?
An uncalibrated ADAS camera can cause your vehicle's safety systems to malfunction. Lane departure warnings may trigger incorrectly or not at all. Automatic emergency braking may activate unexpectedly or fail to activate when needed. Recalibration is not optional for equipped vehicles — it is required by the vehicle manufacturer.
What is the difference between static and dynamic ADAS calibration?
Static calibration is performed in our shop using calibration targets placed at precise distances in front of the vehicle. Dynamic calibration requires driving the vehicle at specific speeds on roads with clear lane markings while the system self-calibrates. Some vehicles require one method, some require the other, and some require both.
Can I drive my car before ADAS calibration is done?
We strongly advise against it. Driving with an uncalibrated ADAS system means your safety features are not functioning correctly. We perform calibration as part of the same appointment as your windshield replacement so your vehicle is fully safe before you leave our shop.

ADAS calibration is performed as part of our complete auto glass service.
